Note on The Aftermath of Hurricane Helene

As Hurricane Helene continues to impact our region, our hearts are with all those already affected by the severe winds and flooding, and we are praying for the safety of everyone most impacted by the aftermath of this storm. This includes our own staff, our families, and everyone within the larger Appalachian family.

At Appalachia Funders Network, we are closely monitoring the after effects of this storm and will be sharing verified information from our members as recovery efforts get underway. These efforts will include both mutual aid and philanthropy, ensuring that support reaches those who need it most.

Our region is no stranger to the impacts of severe weather, particularly as we face the challenges of a changing climate. Yet, time and again, Appalachia shows the world what it means to come together as a community, to rise up and care for one another in our deepest hours of need. Let us be that model once again, as neighbors across these hills and hollers support each other with unwavering resilience and compassion.

ENACT CHANGE IN APPALACHIA

The Appalachia Funders Network unites public, private, and philanthropic funders with other investors to create transformational impacts in the Appalachian region. Our unique blend of leadership, capacity building, and highly collaborative work is a formula to enact just transition for the region.

"Having the opportunity to work together on issues and learn from one another [is one of the greatest AFN benefits]. Moving big ideas forward as a cohort lightens the load of doing the work alone."
